Gutter Guards

Gutter Guards in Philadelphia

Guard options that cut down debris buildup and keep water moving through the system.

LESS DEBRIS.BETTER FLOW.FEWER TRIPS UP.

Gutter guards cover the top of the trough so leaves and larger debris stay out while water passes through. On a home surrounded by trees, that can be the difference between clearing gutters several times a year and checking them occasionally.

Got A Guy Seamless Gutters LLC installs gutter guards on new and existing gutter systems throughout Philadelphia and nearby areas. We'll also tell you when guards aren't the right answer for a particular roof.

Why homeowners add guards

  • 01

    Less buildup in the trough

Leaves, twigs and larger debris are kept on top of the guard instead of collecting in the gutter.

  • 02

    Fewer clogged outlets

Keeping bulk debris out of the trough means less material reaching the outlets and downspouts.

  • 03

    Less time on a ladder

Guards reduce how often gutters need to be cleared, which matters on two- and three-story homes.

  • 04

    Matched to your gutters

Guards are fitted to the gutter profile you have so the system stays neat and water still enters the trough.

When guards are usually worth discussing

Philadelphia's mix of oak, maple and sycamore street trees drops very different debris — broad leaves, small seed clusters and fine grit. That mix is worth talking through before choosing a guard.

  • Large trees directly over the roofline
  • Gutters that clog again within weeks of being cleaned
  • Tall or steep rooflines that make routine cleaning difficult
  • Downspouts that jam with debris repeatedly
  • Recently installed gutters you want to keep clear from the start
  • Rear runs that are hard to reach safely

How It Works

The process.

  1. 01

    Look at the setting

Tree cover, roof pitch, gutter size and the debris you actually deal with all factor into whether guards help.

  2. 02

    Straight recommendation

If guards make sense we'll say so. If cleaning on a schedule is the better value for your home, we'll say that instead.

  3. 03

    Clean, then cover

Gutters are cleared and checked first — covering a dirty gutter just traps the problem underneath.

  4. 04

    Fit and secure

Guards are cut and fastened to the gutter profile so they stay put and water still gets in.

FAQ

Common questions

Do gutter guards eliminate gutter cleaning?
No. Guards reduce how much debris enters the gutter and usually stretch the time between cleanings, but they still need to be checked and cleared. Any claim of zero maintenance isn't realistic.
Can guards be added to my existing gutters?
In most cases yes, as long as the existing gutters are in sound condition and properly pitched. We check that first.
Will guards cause water to run over the edge?
Properly fitted guards let water into the trough while shedding debris. Poor fit or a gutter that's already undersized can cause overflow, which is why fit and sizing get checked before installation.
Are guards worth it if I don't have many trees?
Sometimes not. If debris isn't a real problem at your home, routine cleaning may be the more sensible spend, and we'll tell you so.
Do you install guards with new gutters?
Yes. Guards are a common add-on to a new seamless gutter installation and can be quoted together.
